  • Open library on time and close it on time as well.
  • Welcome patrons as they enter the library.
  • Check patrons’ library cards when they enter to make sure that there is no unauthorized use of library services.
  • Ask patrons how they would like to be assisted, determine what they are looking for and perform research work to look for information or books that patrons have asked for.
  • Locate library materials for patrons, including books, periodicals, tape cassettes, Braille volumes, and pictures.
  • Select substitute titles when requested materials are unavailable following criteria such as age, education, and interests.
  • Ensure members maintain discipline within the library and abide all the rules stated by the library.
  • Instruct patrons on how to use reference sources, card catalogs, and automated information systems.
  • Record details of books borrowed and returned by the patrons.
  • Call patrons in case books are not returned on time.
