Fish Cutter Sample Job Description
Fish Cutters often work in the seafood processing unit where they are responsible for processing seafood products so that they are ready for sale. Their duties include scaling and trimming fish, cleaning and cutting fillets, discarding defective items, and packing and shipping the products.
Working as a Fish Cutter requires first-hand knowledge of food safety standards along with manual dexterity and profound knife skills. Furthermore, an individual working in this capacity should have demonstrated ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
As far as educational requirements are concerned, no more than a high school diploma or a GED equivalent is required for this job.
Fish Cutter Sample Job Description
• Receive and unload seafood products from the delivery truck
• Make sure that the received products are fresh and in accordance with purchasing guidelines
• Clean and wash seafood products properly
• Inspect products for defects and bruises and remove them
• Cut, trim, and debone fish and other seafood products as per order specifications
• Separate seafood portions and byproducts into specified containers
• Slice, cube, and fillet products
• Process parts into cuts that are ready for sale
• Weigh raw, as well as prepared seafood items and tag containers for weight and contents
• Store all products in freezers, or chillers and ensure proper rotation to prevent spoilage
• Maintain the work area clean and sanitized
• Clean and maintain knives, descalers, and other related equipment
• Maintain inventory and inform supervisor of low inventory situations
